I have a feeling spring is approaching fast, how about you? So, I wanted to celebrate it with a birthday throwback post. It features an always fresh black and white look, perfect for spring. By the way, my birthday is on August 23, almost exactly half a year away 🙂
It may be hard to believe but I never ever had an ‘it’s your birthday, we’ll do whatever you like’ moment. Not even as a kid. This time, it sort of came about naturally and, shock and horror, it ended up pretty girly! To this day I’m feeling all pink about it.
Easy birthday fun in London
When in London, I like strolling around Soho (the leafy areas), Neal Street and Covent Garden. It’s great to catch some good vibes, enjoy the view of old pubs and old shops, and pop into a few fave stores like the Dr. Martens flagship store or Neal’s Yard… Anyway, this walk happened to take me right into Rokit Vintage. I spent quite a while trying on vintage Levi’s jeans and denim shorts.  Next stop: Ladurée Covent Garden. We sat down in the kitsch baroque style area for some yummy and cute-looking desserts before I grabbed all the macarons I could carry. Then it was on to Knightsbridge for some old school tourist-like Harrods fun. When the exhaustion from the all-day walk got the better of us, on the way home we stopped at our local, The Black Lion in West Hampstead for a drink.
The minimal birthday outfit
This look features real oldies but you won’t find it hard to use your own basics. I’m wearing basic black skinny jeans, soft black leather mules, a vintage white shirt with huge cuffs and a big collar, and a black blazer with lace-up sleeves. The blazer is the same as the one I wore when I wrote about how to do epic suiting. The minimal grainy leather camera bag is still a steady fave.
