I love a minimal palette, there is nothing I love more. Still, you should never underestimate the power of primary colours when your energy levels need a good boost! Here’s my last look sporting some red, and another wearing royal blue. I’m kind of gearing up for some yellow too… I own an amazing yellow vintage sports tee and I have been known to wear a yellow tunic dress once in a blue moon. For now, here’s me layering up some black and white for the office, covered up by a flash of red.
Today’s biker look and not-so-obvious style hacks
Flared jeans and trainers for the office, seriously? I get it. It’s what we live in, far from any office, whenever flares are in. Or, when flares are nothing but a guilty pleasure. But we know crisp white trainers can be smart enough to wear with corporate suits, right? Now, as I discovered around last summer, there was something about flares and Stans worn together – as long as those flares were black denim. When worn with a t-shirt or knitwear, they look casual with a twist. In turn, they can be dressed up with a smart sweater, a shirt or blouse, a cami and a blazer. I suggest you try it!
The cropped frill-sleeve blazer with a sweater? This black textured lightweight piece is from last year. I bought it just to throw over a black cami to change my cover-up, running straight from a sweaty city treasure hunt to a boat dinner in Vienna. The obvious use is exactly that: to easily transform your cami or t-shirt outfit into something prim and proper. This time I wore it to the office to add a different look and feel to a neutral and sometimes boringly basic Breton sweater look. It’s also a nice way to play with different cuts and textures.
All that topped off with a red biker? Sure! As I said, it’s really mood-lifting to add a bold flash of colour to all that black and white stuff you wear. It’s also pretty clear how well black, white and red go together, especially if you add stripes. The red biker enhances the casual vibe, perfect for when you finally get off work. At this point the blazer disappears anyway, unless you wear a longline one which can be just as cool nonchalantly hanging there under the biker.
The double buckle Western belt is just something I like to wear with black flares. I wear gold toned belt buckles a lot, just check my Insta 🙂 – here, it was mostly about adding some silver toned hardware.
